Liverpool face off against Real Madrid and Manchester City for Nice striker Amine Gouiri
According to Fichajes, as relayed by The Hard Tackle (h/t Liverpool Echo), Liverpool will face competition from European bigwigs in their effort to sign OGC Nice striker Amine Gouiri.
The 21-year-old has been making a name for himself at the Allianz Riviera. He has five goals and two assists in just seven appearances this season and looks set to take his talents to the next level.
Liverpool are not the only team keeping tabs on his progress. Real Madrid and Manchester City have also been alerted to Gouiri’s potential and will challenge the Reds for his signature.
Gouiri came through the Olympic Lyon academy, going on to make his first-team bow for the Ligue 1 giants in 2017. He made just 15 appearances for the club before going on to join Nice in 2020.
It proved to be an inspired decision. Gouiri made 41 appearances across all competitions, scoring 16 goals and assisting eight more. A fine return for a youngster, he has now continued his good run into the 2021/22 campaign.
At 21, the youngster should only get better and has the potential to become a leading forward in the years to come. He would be a fine addition to Jurgen Klopp’s ageing frontline. Roberto Firmino is not getting any younger and Divock Origi, despite his moments of magic, is not a consistent performer.
Liverpool have largely relied on Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane for goals in recent seasons. Adding a prolific striker upfront who can feed off the Reds’ attack could prove to be a gamechanger.
Klopp has the credentials needed to get the best out of Gouiri. He could become the striker to lead Liverpool into the new decade. The 21-year-old looks primed for success and Liverpool will do well to snap him up quick.

Both City and Madrid are themselves in need of a striker. Pep Guardiola has not replaced Sergio Aguero while Madrid will need to replace Karim Benzema soon. Whether Liverpool will beat their rivals to Gouiri’s signing remains to be seen.
