Liverpool target Franck Kessie is keen on a move to the Premier League as his contract expires next summer
According to 90min (h/t Daily Mail), Liverpool target and AC Milan midfielder Franck Kessie is keen on making a move to the Premier League as his contract expires next summer.
The 24-year-old midfielder is wanted by several clubs in Europe. He plays an important part in this AC Milan side and helped them reach the 2nd spot in Serie A last season. The Ivory Coast international scored 14 goals and provided 6 assists in 50 games for the Rossoneri across all competitions during their last campaign.
The report mentions that Kessie is denying signing a new contract with AC Milan despite several attempts from the Italian club. Chelsea, Manchester United, Liverpool, and Arsenal are the top Premier League clubs that are said to keep tabs on the midfielder. Other European clubs like Paris Saint-Germain and Bayern Munich have also shown their interest in the former Atalanta player.
Liverpool have started this season in great fashion but injuries to Thiago Alcantara and Harvey Elliott have put some stress on their midfield lineup. Jurgen Klopp would love to have greater depth in such positions as it would enable his team to compete at a higher level in various competitions.
The Reds had to survive a tumultuous injury-ridden season last year. Even though the Merseyside team have started this campaign in a great manner, adding midfield reinforcements would definitely give the club a better edge. He has proven to be a dependable asset for the Serie A side and could be a great long-term investment in the club.
The AC Milan coach also praised the player while speaking to the Italian media last week:
‘With Franck, I only talk about matters relating to the pitch and I always see him as positive and serene, there are no problems.’
According to the report by 90min (h/t Daily Mail), AC Milan’s technical director Paolo Maldini has also been trying his best to secure the midfielder’s long-term future to the club. Despite these attempts, it is highly likely that Kessie may land up in England.

If Liverpool manages to secure a deal for the young midfielder, it could provide some much-needed respite for Jurgen Klopp and the squad. That being said the 24-year-old could take time to adapt to the speed and intensity of the English game. He would also have to fight for a regular place in the first team with more experienced players around him.
