Liverpool handed a timely boost as Naby Keita returns to training ahead of the Champions League clash against Porto.

According to Evening Standard, Naby Keita has given Liverpool a great boost as the midfielder returned to training on Monday.

The former RB Salzburg player’s career has been a roller coaster since his arrival at Anfield. The Guinean international has scored some great goals for the Reds but has failed to consistently start for the club due to his injury issues.

The 26-year-old midfielder scored a beautiful volley against Crystal Palace in the Premier League this season. Keita’s season was again marred by an injury scare as he had to be substituted early in the Carabao Cup fixture against Norwich.

Jurgen Klopp has tried his best to rotate his squad in the early part of the season. This has meant that he has used different squads across different competitions at the start of the campaign.

Despite all these precautions Liverpool have had to endure injuries in the middle of the park. Thiago Alcantara is temporarily unavailable whereas Harvey Elliot will be out of contention for the remainder of the season.

Naby Keita’s return to training is a good sign as Klopp will have more options to rotate his players for the Champions League game. The club have started the season in a good fashion as they clocked a 3-2 win against AC Milan in their opening match of the CL campaign. The Reds are also sitting on the top of the Premier League table after 6 matches.

The Merseyside team will be looking to put on an impressive performance against Porto after the disappointing draw versus Brentford. Keita could feature in the game against Porto but it is highly unlikely that Klopp would take a chance to start the Guinean midfielder in their coming CL clash.
