Liverpool youngster Harvey Elliott shares updates about his rehabilitation after serious injury vs Leeds United
Liverpool midfielder Harvey Elliott shared an update regarding his rehabilitation process after successful surgery on his ankle (h/t Daily Mail).
The 18-year-old attacking midfielder had impressed Jurgen Klopp in pre-season and was starting to cement his place in Liverpool’s first team. His youthful vigour and mercurial abilities were slowly making him a fan favourite.
Elliott was coming off the back of a fairly successful loan spell at Blackburn Rovers. The teenager scored 7 goals and provided 12 assists for the Championship side in 43 games across all competitions. The young midfielder also became the youngest player to play in a PL match during his days at Fulham.
The striker has shown his abilities on the pitch time and again. Jurgen Klopp hasn’t been shy of giving deserving young players the opportunity to play in the first team. Gini Wijnaldum recently departed the club to ply his trade at Paris Saint-Germain and the Reds haven’t purchased any suitable replacement yet.
It seemed like the 18-year-old player could be the Dutch midfielder’s long-term successor but the horror injury against Leeds was a truly frightening incident. The youngster seems to be recovering well now as he shared an update after a successful injury. He shared a picture that had the words ‘Small steps’ with him waving in the background.
The teenager could be expected to return later in the season but any such statement is more of a hope than assurance. The Reds doctor Jim Moxon also went on to explain the young midfielder’s current situation:
“The operation was a success so his comeback starts now. We won’t put pressure on him by setting a specific timeframe beyond being able to say with confidence we expect him to feature again later in the season following our rehab programme.”
These are encouraging signs for the former Fulham midfielder. Curtis Jones has currently been filling the gap in the attacking midfield department after injury scares to other teammates like Thiago Alcantara and Naby Keita.

Jurgen Klopp and the club would have to navigate the 18-year-old’s road to recovery very carefully so as not to put any unnecessary strain on him. Harvey Elliott was becoming an instrumental part of this Liverpool squad and will be looking to pick up from where he left off.
