Liverpool winger Mohamed Salah compared to Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi by Dean Saunders
Speaking on TalkSPORT, former Liverpool ace Dean Saunders (h/t Liverpool Echo) compared Mohamed Salah of Liverpool to the elites of the sport in Manchester United forward Cristiano Ronaldo and PSG superstar Lionel Messi.
The Egyptian winger has started this season in a stellar fashion. He has scored 8 goals and provided 2 assists for the Reds in 8 games across all competitions. The Merseyside team currently sits on top of the Premier League table and their UEFA Champions League group.
The 29-year-old forward has played an instrumental role in the Merseysiders having a great start to this campaign. The Reds are still unbeaten across all competition this season. The Egyptian forward has been a dependable asset ever since he made the switch to Anfield.
Saunders spoke about the winger’s impact at Liverpool and claimed that he was better than Ronaldo and Messi at the moment:
“Eight goals in eight games from right-wing, he’s not playing down the middle. He just looks unstoppable. There’s Messi and Ronaldo, who are on their own, but right now they’re not as good as Salah.”
The Egyptian winger has been a consistent performer and has become part of a lethal attacking trio under the guidance of Jurgen Klopp. The Reds have won the Champions League, UEFA Super Cup, FIFA Club World Cup, and much-acclaimed Premier League ever since his arrival at the club. The 29-year-old has played an instrumental part in securing all these major titles over the last few seasons.
Even though Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino have at times witnessed a fluctuation in their form, the former Basel forward has always been a reliable goalscorer. He has maintained that level of consistency in England and Europe for a considerable amount of time. His impact on the Merseyside club cannot be questioned.
