Liverpool are set to face competition from Leeds United for Villarreal CF forward Arnaut Danjuma
According to Football Insider (h/t Liverpool Echo), Leeds United have also joined the race to sign Liverpool target and Villarreal CF winger Arnaut Danjuma.
The Reds have recently been linked with the 24-year-old winger who is currently playing for the Spanish side Villarreal CF. The forward used to ply his trade at AFC Bournemouth in the Championship before making the move to LaLiga.
Danjuma has become an important part of Unai Emery’s squad and this has grabbed the eyeballs of the PL teams. The winger has already scored 3 goals and assisted 1 time across 7 games in all competitions for the LaLiga team this season.
The Reds have developed a feared attacking trio under the guidance of Jurgen Klopp at Anfield. Mohamed Salah, Roberto Firmino, and Sadio Mane have become instrumental to this Liverpool attack which has helped them secure a lot of silverware in the past few seasons.
Even though Mohamed Salah has consistently performed for the club, players like Firmino and Mane have witnessed a certain fluctuation in their form in the last 2 seasons. The stress of having to play across so many European and domestic competitions could also take a severe toll on the players.
Jurgen Klopp has tried his best to rotate his players this season after last campaign’s injury crisis. Despite that, he has had o endure injuries to key players like Thiago Alcantara and Harvey Elliott. The 54-year-old manager would certainly love to bring certain reinforcements in this Liverpool attacking lineup.
Danjuma could be a great option for the Reds boss and his experience in the Championship could help him adapt, were he to make the switch to Anfield. According to the new report, the Merseyside team will have to face off against Leeds United if they were to move for any deal.
