Transfer News: Liverpool have shown interest in signing 17-year-old Polish midfielder Kacper Kozlowski
According to The Mirror (h/t Daily Mail), Liverpool have shown an interest in signing 17-year-old Pogon Szczecin midfielder Kacper Kozlowski.
The report suggests that Liverpool are interested in signing the teenage midfielder but will have to face competition from the likes of AC Milan, RB Leipzig, and RB Salzburg. In the last few seasons, the Reds have become synonymous with procuring and developing young talent through the ranks.
Players like Curtis Jones, Harvey Elliott, and Trent Alexander-Arnold are some prime examples of this in the last few years. Kacper Kozlowski could be another great addition to bolster the youth squad of the Reds. The Polish teenager has been grabbing a lot of attention throughout the footballing world.
He also became the youngest player to play in a European Championship when he featured for the Polish national team against Spain in the recently concluded UEFA European Football Championship. He achieved this feat at 17 years and 246 days.
How the youngster could be part of Liverpool’s plans for the future
Since their arrival FSG have invested £50m in a brand new training complex. Even a specialist coach Vitor Matos was brought in to bridge the gap between the first team and the academy. Jurgen Klopp has also endorsed this philosophy and hasn’t been shy of providing an opportunity to deserving youngsters in Domestic competitions.
The Polish midfielder has already gone on to make 35 senior appearances for Pogon Szczecin in the Polish League. The teenager fits the perfect profile for the Reds who have concentrated more on developing players through the ranks rather than spending the big bucks on quick fixes.
The 17-year-old could prove a great addition and has also been called the Polish ‘Kevin De Bruyne’. This could be an excellent long-term investment into the Merseyside club and save the team millions of euros in the long term.
The English domestic competitions like Carabao Cup, FA Cup, etc can also become instrumental to the player’s growth as a young footballer. Klopp and his team have helped a lot of youngsters make a move into the first team.
