In conversation with Rio Ferdinand on Rio Ferdinand presents Five (h/t ESPN), transfer guru Fabrizio Romano spoke about Paris Saint-Germain’s interest in Liverpool winger Mohamed Salah and his current contract situation with Liverpool.
Mohamed Salah has become a living legend for the Reds. His consistency and clinical ability in front of goal have earned him plaudits from experts and fans across the globe. The Egyptian has been performing at an insane level ever since he made the switch to Anfield from AS Roma in 2017 for £34.3million.
The 29-year-old has been an instrumental part of this Merseyside team. He has scored 134 goals
and provided 50 assists in 212 matches across all competitions for Liverpool. He played a pivotal part in securing the UEFA Champions League, UEFA Super Cup, Fifa Club World Cup, and much-coveted Premier League title for the Reds.Fabrizio spoke in detail about the situation with the Egyptian forward:
“Salah is still in negotiations with Liverpool. From what I’m told, he loves Liverpool, the fans, the city, everything. But there is no agreement yet for a new contract. We should keep an eye on some clubs this summer if players leave like Kylian Mbappé. But until next summer, Liverpool’s priority will be to extend Salah’s contract.”
It is believed that the 29-year-old forward is demanding a weekly wage in the region of £300,000 and £380,000. The fans absolutely adore the Egyptian and he has helped the team reach its former glory in Europe and England.
His attacking partners Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino are the other two prongs of this forward trident but both of them have witnessed a certain fluctuation in their form in the past couple of seasons. Salah has proven to be a dependable goal-scoring asset and has risen to the occasion on the big matches. It is believed that Kylian Mbappe is looking for a move away from PSG and the Parisian outfit could look to sign a world-class forward should such a move take place. The 29-year-old winger certainly fits that bill.
Any such speculation is highly unlikely as the Egyptian forward is known to love the fans and club, but the management will be racing against time to tie down one of the biggest stars to the club for a long time. This predicament has certainly garnered some attention from footballing giants in Europe but the Liverpudlians will be hoping to see Mohamed Salah at the club for a considerably long time.
