Trasnsfer News: Liverpool among three clubs that can sign Borussia Dortmund striker Erling Haaland
According to Tuttosport via Sport Witness (h/t Liverpool Echo), Liverpool are mentioned along with Paris Saint-Germain and Real Madrid in an elite list of clubs that could sign Norwegian striker Erling Haaland.
The 21-year-old striker has been making waves across the footballing globe with his impressive performances for club and country. The former Molde FK player has scored 68 goals and provided 19 assists in 67 matches across all competitions for Dortmund.
He has created a feared partnership along with fellow teammate and teenager Jude Bellingham. According to the report, The Reds and Real Madrid each have 25% chance of signing him whereas PSG are the frontrunners with a 50% probability to land the young striker.
The Merseysiders had a relatively quiet transfer window in the summer as Ibrahima Konate was the only major addition. They could be looking to make a greater impact in the coming window and strengthen their attacking department.
The young striker could prove to be a great asset and long-term investment should he make the switch to Anfield. Haaland made the permanent move to the German club for €22.5m from RB Salzburg. He has grown in leaps and bounds since coming to the Bundesliga and consistently delivered in the German league as well as Europe’s elite competition.
The Reds have created a stellar forward lineup but at the club, but could be forced to take into consideration the similarity of their ages and prepare for the future accordingly. The 21-year-old striker can help create a much more stable future for the club given his exploits as a goal-scoring machine.
Dortmund would not want to let go of their prized possession so easily and it is believed that they are looking for €75m for the talented striker. Liverpool have been averse to spending such huge sums of money on young players in the last few seasons, but a player with Erling Haaland’s abilities is very rare.
