Liverpool keeping tabs on Leeds United and England midfielder Kalvin Phillips along with Raphinha and Illan Meslier
According to Football Insider (h/t Liverpool Echo), Liverpool are keeping an eye on Leeds United ace Kalvin Phillips as a potential transfer target. Jurgen Klopp’s side have been interested in the Leeds midfielder for quite some time.
The report also says that the Reds are interested in two other Leeds players along with Phillips. Whites forward Raphinha and goalkeeper Illan Meslier are claimed to be the two players on the radar.
The England international is out right now due to a minor injury and had to withdraw from the national squad. England greatly felt his absence in their match against Hungary when they were held to a 1-1 draw.
Phillips has been a hot topic ever since his performances at the Euro 2020. He was arguably his country’s best player in the tournament. The sentiment is shared among the England fans and pundits as he was voted as BT England Men’s Player of the Year for 2020/21.
Klopp would get a fine addition in the form of the 25-year-old should Liverpool be able to sign him. However, the chances of Phillips staying at his current club is increasing day by day.
The midfielder’s agent Kevin Sharp has talked about the situation, as quoted by The Mirror. He said:
“I’ve had positive discussions with Leeds throughout the summer on a new contract for Kalvin. I can only see a positive outcome. Kalvin’s desire is to stay, and there is a real willingness from all sides to make it happen”.
