Transfer News: Bayern Munich and AC Milan keeping tabs on Liverpool striker Roberto Firmino

According to Stop&Goal.com (h/t Liverpool Echo), Both Bayern Munich and AC Milan have been linked with a move for Liverpool attacker Roberto Firmino. The Brazilian is in the final two years of his contract and could be privy to bids come next summer.

The striker is coming off the back of a hat-trick he scored against Watford in the Premier League on Saturday. It was his first hat-trick for Liverpool since December 2018 and momentarily aided the Reds to go top of the table.

With Diogo Jota gaining more prominence, the Brazilian has had fewer minutes so far this season. However, with the Portuguese ace recovering from an injury, Jurgen Klopp decided to hand the gauntlet to Firmino. The veteran has taken his opportunity well.

The 30-year-old has scored 6 goals and provided one assist despite the limited time he has been afforded this season. He has also started to rekindle the linkup with Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane.

The report states that Bayern are leading the race amidst rumours of Robert Lewandowski seeking to leave the Bavarian giants. Italian giants Milan are also interested having missed out on signing him before his move to the Merseyside.

However, given the lack of options in the Liverpool forward line, it is doubtful that the Reds would allow Firmino to leave. As Takumi Minamino and Divock Origi have not fared well so far, it makes the Brazilian’s exit all the more unlikely.

The Brazil national could run down his contract should he decide to leave. However, by the time he leaves, he would be nearing 32 and the interest may be subdued due to various reasons.

Firmino is a key member of the Liverpool side and has carved a niche for himself as a club icon. Despite his struggles last season, he has experienced a resurgence of sorts this time around. Whether he too will be offered a new contract in the coming months remains to be seen.
