Didier Drogba titles Liverpool duo Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah the new ‘kings’ of the Premier League
According to Liverpool Echo, Chelsea legend Didier Drogba has named Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah to be the new ‘kings’ of the Premier League. He tweeted the message on his Twitter handle following the game against Manchester United.
Liverpool ran riot against their bitter rivals Man Utd at Old Trafford as they beat them by a 5-0 scoreline. Salah scored a hat-trick in the game and also assisted Naby Keita in the first goal of the game.
Mo Salah became the highest-scoring African player in the history of the Premier League, overtaking the former Chelsea striker. Mane closely follows Mo and is four goals behind the former Blues forward himself.
Earlier, Drogba had revealed that he messaged the Egyptian after he equalled the record. He said that he congratulated the winger for his achievement and that is happy for him.
“I sent him a message to congratulate him. I am happy for him. He’s in great shape right now and I hope he will continue. It often happens that our little brothers overtake us and it’s good.”
The African duo has had a major impact on Liverpool’s success this season having scored lots of goals. Their output in front of the goal is the reason why Jurgen Klopp’s side are the highest scoring side in the league.
They are far from done and can yet write many more chapters to their Liverpool chapter. Having them perform at the top level is a win-win for both them and the club.

The Merseyside club would be hoping to keep the African duo fresh and healthy throughout the season. However, they could be set to miss a few games due to their ties with AFCON meaning Liverpool have to find a way to reduce their dependence on the duo in front of the goal.
