“Not good enough”- Several Liverpool fans lament home draw vs Brighton

Liverpool fans react as Brighton hold them to a draw at Anfield

Brighton came from behind and held Liverpool in a draw in an end to end game at Anfield earlier today.

Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah’s recent good form gave the Reds an early advantage. However, they failed to take away three points from the game throwing away a 2-0 lead on the night. Jordan Henderson and Sadio Mane were the goalscorers for the home side.

In the pre-match press conference ahead of the clash, Jurgen Klopp suggested why his team will need to be cautious against Brighton. It is fair to say that the Seagulls’ comeback has proven Klopp to be a reluctant prophet.

Liverpool had an electric start to the match, having an early goal. Salah played a vital role in cutting a pass from the right flank to the edge of the penalty box. Jordan Henderson smashed the pass into the far corner to give Liverpool the lead in the fourth minute of the match.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain had an immediate impact after coming in as a substitute for the injured Bany Keita. He gave a curling cross to the penalty box, and Mane was present to head it to the net, making it 2-0 for the home side.

Liverpool saw their lead cut thanks to an excellent strike by Zambian player Enock Mwepu before the break. Leandro Trossard scored the equalizer for Brighton in the second half, leaving Alisson Becker with no chance.

In the end, while it was two dropped points for Liverpool, Brighton were very deserving of the draw. Hopefully, Liverpool can learn not to be naive in defence and get their act together as the season goes on.

We now take a look at how some fans reacted to the result on Twitter.

I mean we dont deserve 3 points today, but Brighton definitely dont deserve 0. With their park the bus and counter tactics.

It’s literally the midfields fault, there’s no protection for the defence

This is not Anfield that I expect. Been a library when we needed the crowd the most to motivate the players in this tough game.
