According to the reliable journalist, Fabrizio Romano on Twitter via Sport1, Volker Struth, the agent of Toni Kroos has denied that his client could move to Liverpool.
The German international is one of Real’s best players and among the finest midfielders of his generation. A World Cup winner, he has been part of numerous UEFA Champions League-winning teams as well.
Despite being 31, Kroos remains as adept as ever and would be an excellent addition to any team in football. His ability dispersed with his experiences makes for a deadly combination.
Any chance Liverpool may have had of landing him appears to be out of the question. The player’s agent has confirmed that Kroos will end his career at Real Madrid.
The 31-year-old is not only yet to give any indication that he wants to leave but is also well settled with his family in the Spanish capital. With 327 appearances for Los Blancos in all competitions, he surely ranks among the club’s all-time greats.
Kroos was one of the standout players last season as Real dumped Liverpool out of the Champions League in the quarter-final stage. He bossed the midfield and ensured that Los Blancos got the better of a then-struggling Reds side.
Given his age, it is debatable if adding Kroos to the squad would be a welcome move for Liverpool. While his ability is not in question, the Reds need an infusion of youth and not experience in the middle of the park.
Jordan Henderson, Thiago Alcantara, James Milner and Fabinho all bring enough know-how to the table. The former three are however in their thirties and it is imperative that a succession plan is drawn up quick.
