Real Madrid reveal their price for Liverpool transfer target Marco Asensio
According to Teamtalk (h/t Liverpoolecho), Real Madrid have revealed their asking price for Liverpool transfer target Marco Asensio.
The Spaniard came to the fore during Zinedine Zidane’s reign. He has however fallen down the pecking order of late and does not appear to have the same standing under new boss Carlo Ancelotti.
The fall is not abrupt. The 25-years-old player faced the same situation in the previous season. He played only one full game in the entirety of the 2020/21 La Liga campaign.
He also failed to display any improvement in his playing style as Ancelotti continues to overlook him when picking his starting XI. The player is yet to get a full 90 minute match time under the Italian manager. This season he has only three goals and one assist, including a hat-trick against RCD Mallorca.
Going into the January transfer window, The Los Blancos has recently set their price tag for the Spaniard. The Madrid team are asking for a transfer sum of €40m for the former RCD Espanyol player.
It is believed that Liverpool are keeping a tab of the situation. But they would have to engage in a bidding war with Arsenal if they are keen on securing the attacker.

The Merseyside team would want to compete for titles this season even in the absence of key players like Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane. Both the African players could miss several games for Liverpool due to the Africa Cup of Nations tournament.
The Reds’ manager could very well take a punt on Asensio, who gave some incredible performances under Zidane. If he goes on to regain his best form, the Reds could be landing themselves a world-class talent.
