Liverpool keeping a keen eye on 24-year-old rival PL ace

Transfer News: Liverpool are keen on Wolverhampton Wanderers star Ruben Neves

According to Fichajes (h/t Mirror), Liverpool has joined the transfer race for Wolverhampton Wanderers star, Ruben Neves as they seek to strengthen their midfield.

The Reds have long targetted the Portuguese midfielder but failed to lure him to Anfield in the previous windows. The Portuguese ace has time and again shown his worth to the Reds board.

Neves has been one of the consistent players in the Premier League. Not only is he a physical presence in the middle of the park but has excellent distribution and dead ball abilities.

Jurgen Klopp’s team is yet to find a replacement for Georginio Wijnaldum, who left the club earlier this summer to join Paris Saint Germain. Without his services, The German is short of a talented player who can dominate the midfield.

While the Reds could have weathered the seasons sans the Dutchman, a spate of injuries has left them thinly manned. With Jordan Henderson, James Milner and Thiago Alcantara all in their thirties, an infusion of youth cannot come early.

Neves can provide some much-needed dynamism in the middle of the pitch. The Reds midfield was largely bypassed in recent games and it is clear that an infusion of quality is needed.

The 24-year-old player can become a valuable asset as he has a knack for sensing opponent attacks and presenting them before building pressure on the defence. He certainly offers something subtle but key that can help the transition from defence to attack.

Liverpool have to engage in an off-field bidding war with their arch-rivals Manchester United and Spanish giants Real Madrid, who are also targeting

the Wolves player to solve their own midfield problems.

The quality of Ruben Neves shows that he can fight for a spot in Jurgen Klopp’s squad. With his exceptional qualities, the Reds manager would have the luxury to play a high backline with ill comfort.
