According to Liverpool Echo, the Reds are anxiously waiting to discover the extent of the injuries suffered by their star duo Sadio Mane and Jordan Henderson during the international break.
The duo is in the race to be fit for Liverpool’s upcoming Premier League clash against in-form Arsenal. It has been a costly international break so far for Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp in terms of player injuries.
Before heading to the international break, Liverpool lost to West Ham United and found themselves fourth on the points table, just two ahead of the Gunners, who they take on at Anfield on Saturday.
Arsenal, on the other hand, are flying high despite losing the first three matches at the start of the season. They are currently fifth on the points table.
Pool are waiting on Sadio Mane’s fitness results after the attacker picked up a knock playing for Senegal against Togo. The 29-year-old was taken on Thursday night off before half-time in the World Cup qualifier after hurting his ribs while challenging for a header.
The 19-time English champions are now waiting on the results of an X-ray to determine the extent of the injury.
However, Senegal coach Aliou Cisse said his withdrawal was merely precautionary after drawing 1-1. Senegal have already qualified for next March’s play-offs where Africa’s five representatives at Qatar will be decided.
“He is an important player for the team, we took him off as a precaution and there is nothing serious.”
Meanwhile, skipper Jordan Henderson also missed England’s clash with San Marino after undergoing a scan and his fitness is still unspecified.
