Monaco reveal Aurelien Tchouameni price as Liverpool and Manchester City remain keen
According to Italian publication TuttoJuve (h/t Liverpoolecho), Liverpool and Manchester City are the frontrunners to enquire and open talks with Monaco over a transfer deal involving Aurelien Tchouameni.
The Frenchman has been giving some electrifying performances for the Ligue 1 giants. Despite being just a 21-year-old, he captained Monaco’s first game in the Europa League this season. This shows the maturity and growth of the French player, not to mention the trust he has achieved in the past few seasons.
His consistent performances have caught the eye of the big names in European football. It is believed that along with Liverpool, Spanish giants Real Madrid, Italian powerhouse Juventus and European Champions Chelsea, and Premier League champions Manchester City are all in the race.
Despite interest from many elite teams, only the Reds and City have opted to open talks with Monaco in the pursuit of the player. Furthermore, both Premier League teams have enquired about Tchouameni’s price.
It is believed that The Monégasques team has made it clear that the star player would cost them £42million.
Jurgen Klopp’s team lost one of their most reliable and consistent centre midfielders, Georginio Wijnaldum, to Paris Saint-Germain this summer. The Reds’ current midfield is also not getting any younger and has a number of their top stars over 30.
Thus Tchouameni’s ability and versatility could make him a viable option in the midfield and provide the Merseyside team with a dynamic presence for years to come.
