German giants lead the race to sign 19-year-old Liverpool target

Liverpool handed a blow in their pursuit of Red Bull Salzburg striker Karim Adeyemi

According to BILD, via Sport Witness (h/t Mirror), Borussia Dortmund are leading the race for Liverpool target Karim Adeyemi

The 19-year-old striker has been making waves and is enjoying his football recently. The teenager has already scored 15 goals and provided 2 assists in 22 games across all competition for Red Bull Salzburg this season.

It is believed that Adeyemi has a great desire to play under Jurgen Klopp which could be a good thing for the Anfield outfit. That being said the German club are said to be in the front seat to snap up the young striker.

Dortmund have been really adept at signing young sensation talent in the last few years. They managed to snap up Erling Haaland, Jude Bellingham, Jadon Sancho, and others when top clubs from all across Europe were vying for their services.

It is alleged that Salzburg are demanding a fee of £34m for their prized asset. The German club has cultivated a name for itself to bring and develop young talent and can probably offer more gametime to the youngster right now than the Reds could afford.

In the last few seasons, the Reds have targeted young talents such as Harvey Elliott, Ibrahima Konate, and Sepp van den Berg in the last few years. The German manager has also given deserving youngsters and opportunity to prove themselves in the first team over the last couple of seasons.

The 2020 Premier League champions were relatively quiet in the last transfer window with Konate being the only substantial acquisition. The Reds could thus be pushed to bolster their squad in the upcoming transfer window.

Liverpool could also miss out on the services of Mohammed Salah and Sadio mane due to the Africa Cup of Nations that will start in January. the Merseyside club would therefore be looking to add some more attacking reinforcements to their roster.

The 19-year-old could be a great long-term addition to the club if moulded properly. At the moment it seems as though Dortmund have the upper hand in negotiations for the youngster but only time will tell if Liverpool can manage to lure the player to come to Anfield.
