Porto unwilling to sell Luis Diaz amidst interest from Liverpool

According to the Sport Witness (h/t Liverpool Echo), Porto are keen to hold onto Luis Diaz as they have no intentions of selling a key member of their squad.

The Merseyside team have made their mind to sign a forward in the coming winter transfer window. They need to take into account the absence of Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mané, who would be representing their respective nations in the African Cup of Nations in January.

Furthermore, the injury to Roberto Firmino has also urged them to explore alternatives in the market.

Liverpool showed their interest in Luis Diaz recently following his consistent contribution to both club and country. The Porto ace recently won the named the ‘Revelation of Copa America’ due to his breakthrough performance in the Copa America 2020, where he finished top scorer alongside Lionel Messi.

It was believed that city rivals Everton are also firm admirers and have been trying to lure the Columbian player for quite some time. The Portuguese club had earlier rejected their swap offer involving James Rodriguez.

The Reds may very well have to find other viable forward options for the coming transfer window in such a case.
