Transfer News: Liverpool receive a major boost in their pursuit of Denis Zakaria

According to BILD (h/t Liverpool Echo), Liverpool has received a massive boost in their pursuit of Borussia Monchengladbach player Denis Zakaria due to his intentions to play in England. 

The Swiss international has become a heavy target for European elite clubs due to his consistent performances for both club and country. He has shown maturity in his performance which makes him a reliable option for several teams. 

The 24-year-old player gave a decent performance against Italy in the World Cup qualifying game helping his team hold the European Champions to a goalless draw. 

The Swiss player has repeatedly proved his reliability in the midfield, providing added cover for the defence and winning balls in critical areas. That makes him a prosperous prospect for Elite teams. 

Liverpool have ‘taken an interest’ in the defensive midfielder recently and are keen on luring him to Anfield.  The Reds, however, faced heavy competition from Juventus. It was believed that Turin was the ‘most likely destination’ for the Swiss international. But it seems his interest lies somewhere else.

The former BSC Young Boys player is ‘currently leaning’ towards an exit from Germany and has taken an interest to play for English clubs. It seems the player prefers to play in the Premier League.

This could be a massive boost for Liverpool, who need an infusion of young blood in midfield.

The Merseyside team has an ageing midfield that also suffered several injuries this season, leaving Jurgen Klopp with difficult decisions to make. The holding midfielders fall short in their attempt to nullify opponent attacks that cost them valuable points in the last few games. 

In such a case, the Reds would be waiting for the Swiss player’s final decision, which is believed to arise in ‘early 2022’.
