Injury News: Jurgen Klopp gives an update on Diogo Jota as Liverpool beat Arsenal by 4-0

Speaking in the post-match interview (h/t Liverpool Echo), Jurgen Klopp has revealed the result of the first diagnosis done on the injury that Diogo Jota picked up as Liverpool thumped Arsenal by 4-0 in the Premier League.

Jota was on the scoresheet as he doubled the lead after half-time but picked up a knock on his knee as he collided with Arsenal goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale. He was treated on the sideline and continued on the pitch before getting substituted for Takumi Minamino.

Coming into this game, Klopp had nine players out of contention for the matchday squad but showed no signs of any weakness. The Gunners were outclassed on the night as the Reds brought an end to Mikel Arteta’s unbeaten run.

“The situation is not easy and Diogo went off and he got a proper knock against his knee. They went knee to knee I think and we have to see how quickly that develops, in the right direction hopefully. Hopefully it’s nothing serious. It would be very important.”

The German mentioned that the knock is slightly concerning as the knee was involved in the clash. He added that only further diagnosis would give us a clearer picture and hopes that the injury is not serious.

Injuries have plagued the team this season, and the boss would hope that the list would be freed in the days to come. The team will run into a congested fixture list and could be affected by the AFCON competition in January.
