Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp is interested in luring Juventus midfielder Aaron Ramsey to Anfield

According to Spanish news outlet Fichajes (h/t Liverpool Echo), Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp wants to bring a midfield reinforcement in January and has picked Aaron Ramsey for the task. 

The Welshman’s move to Juventus in 2019 was being termed as an excellent business by the Old Lady. He was set to thrive at Turin. However, his career hasn’t gone as planned.

Last season he only started 13 matches

and which is a significant drop off from expectations. However, this season it’s worse as he has only played 112 minutes of competitive football for the Turun based club. 

It is believed that Massimiliano Allegri’s team is interested in offloading him in the winter transfer window. 

This decision could have sparked the interest of Liverpool. It seems Klopp has made it’ top priority‘ to sign a midfielder in January. Furthermore, he has fixed his eyes on the former Arsenal player. 

Liverpool’s recent injury crisis could explain the German manager’s interest to lure a midfielder to Anfield. The Reds are currently enjoying some high-class performances from club captain Jordan Henderson and Thiago Alcântara.  Neither of them is getting any younger and will also need to be replaced in the coming years.

In the absence of the Spaniard, long-serving James Milner and Naby Keita took charge in the middle of the park. But the sudden injuries to both the players landed the 54-year-old manager in hot water.

At that time, Alcântara wasn’t available too. As a result, the Reds suffered two setbacks, one draw against Brighton and a loss against West Ham United. Given the close nature of the title race, every point matters.

The defensive crisis last season saw Liverpool fall short of silverware. By including Ramsey, the former Dortmund manager would want to avoid such a situation this time around. The 30year-old could become a strong alternative in the middle of the park.
