According to the Metro, Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has revealed that Mohamed Salah was annoyed after missing out on a hat-trick in the Merseyside derby.
The Reds showed absolute domination in the Merseyside derby and dispatched their local rivals with ease. Not only did they humiliate Everton by a 4-1 humiliating scoreline, but did so in front of their one crowd while not getting out of second gear.
This performance could send shockwaves to table-toppers Chelsea, and they could be concerned with the Merseysiders making up for lost ground. Liverpool are now just two points off the Blues and appear to be discovering their form at the right time.
The driving force behind Liverpool’s title charge is none other than Salah. The Egyptian scored twice on the night and has been a key player for the Reds all season.
The 29-year-old attacker has scored 19 times and assisted seven times in just 19 games across all competitions. No Premier League forward has matched his performance this season with even Sadio Mane forced to play catchup.
Despite this awe-inspiring performance, Klopp has revealed that Salah was not happy with himself for not bagging his hattrick and was raging after full time. If anything, it shows the high standards the 39-year-old sets himself up to.
“He was angry after the game! He wanted to score the third one.”
The German manager also suggested
that Salah’s second goal was not ordinary strike, and it looks like scoring such goals has become a habit for the former Chelsea man.“I don’t take these things for granted. His second goal, you have to force these kind of mistakes. Mo put [Seamus] Coleman under pressure to win that ball, and from then on, it is a good chance he will score.”
Well, the event shows the champion mentality of the Liverpool forward. It’s a sign of strong will and determination that only the very best players pose. No doubt Salah is on a dream run this season, and his performance can single-handedly solve the Reds problems.
The former Roma player has established himself as a consistent performer in recent seasons. However, if he keeps his current form until the end of the campaign, there could be much to celebrate.
Liverpool are set to face Wolverhampton Wanderers in the Premier League this weekend. Even though it’s an away game, Salah should look to capitalize every moment and continue his goal-laden form. Because that’s what best players do- strike the rod when the iron is hot.
