Liverpool keen on signing Serie A midfielder impressing at Napoli

Transfer News: Liverpool are keen on signing Napoli midfielder Fabian Ruiz

According to Spanish news outlet Fichajes (h/t Liverpool Echo), Liverpool are interested in luring midfielder Fabian Ruiz to Anfield in the summer transfer window.

The 25-year-old has been giving some eye-catching performances in the Seria A lately. His natural abilities on the ball have allowed him to provide some drool-worthy passes effortlessly.

Aided by the 25-year-old’s performances in midfield, The Gli Azzuri have emerged as the early trendsetters in the race for the Scudetto. Overall his tally stands at five goals and three assist in eight games

Ruiz’s consistent performances have attracted the attention of some elite European clubs recently. It is believed that Barcelona and Real Madrid were keeping a tab on the situation. However, it seems Liverpool have entered the race and are keen to play spoilsports.

The Merseyside team’s midfielders have been quite successful this season. Jordan Henderson, Thiago Alcântara, and Naby Keita have performed exceptionally well whenever they are featured. However, the busy festive schedule is approaching, and some more viable options in the lineup could have helped Klopp tackle the situation better.

A call for reinforcements?

Thiago, Keita, Curtis Jones and James Milner had all suffered injuries a few weeks back and was sidelined for an extensive time. While Thiago and Milner have since returned to the team, Keita and Jones are yet to return to the lineup.

Klopp will also need to look at his ageing midfield to realize that changes need to be made sooner or later. Henderson, Milner and Thiago are all in their thirties and will need to be phased out in the future.

In Ruiz, they could land themselves an all-action player who would be a worthy replacement. Whether it happens remains to be seen.

The Spaniard is gradually entering his peak years, and Jurgen Klopp’s team would want to land the player before his value shoots up. He has performed in big stages and could be ready to move up to the next level of his career. Whether that will be at Anfield remains the question.
