Injury News: Harvey Elliott could return to action for Liverpool in January 

According to The Athletic (Subscription Required), Liverpool youngster, Harvey Elliott is nearing complete recovery and could make a comeback to action in January. 

The youngster is one of the club’s best young prospects and has impressed when given the chance. After showing some eye-catching performances on loan last season, the British player became a starter this season under Jurgen Klopp.

The German manager might have planned to groom the youngster and prepare him for big challenges. However, a horrible injury against Leeds United threw a spanner in the works.

Even though club doctor Jim Moxon was hopeful after the surgery that he could be able to feature in the latter part of the season. Res boss, Jurgen Klopp has however been reluctant to set a return time for the starlet. 

Nevertheless, the 18-year-old player’s constant social media updates have suggested that the recovery process is going exceptionally well. The Athletic indicates that the former Fulham player could be allowed to resume training from January. There is a possibility that he could feature for the Reds in the last three months of the season. 

Liverpool are set to enter the busy part of the season where they would have frequent games as Klopp’s team continue to fight on multiple fronts. In these times, the manager would benefit from more options in the squad. 

Elliott could play the last three months of the season.

On the other hand, Liverpool star duo- Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane are set to miss several games in January due to the AFCON tournament. This season, the two forwards have had an enormous impact on the Reds’ performance. Their absence would be a massive concern for the team.

However, if everything goes well and Elliott returns to the squad in January, he could solve several problems. Even though matching the likes of Salah and Mane is extremely hard, the German manager would have a promising option to provide cover when needed.
