Jurgen Klopp gives a positive injury update on Liverpool star Roberto Firmino
According to Liverpool Echo, In a press conference earlier today, Jurgen Klopp suggested that Liverpool forward Roberto Firmino has returned from his injury and took part in a training session.
The Brazilian has been sidelined since October after suffering from a hamstring injury. He missed eight games for Liverpool, leaving Diogo Jota the go-to man upfront.
While the scintillating form of Mohamed Salah covered the loss of his teammate, strength in depth will prove decisive during the busy period. Firmino’s return will certainly give Klopp more options.
The recent press conference of the former Dortmund manager has cleared the air regarding the player’s injury concern. Klopp suggested that Firmino took part in the training sessions and look like he could return in the pecking order.
“Bobby trained normally yesterday, so I would say he’s in contention. Curtis had a partial session with the team. Timing-wise, it couldn’t be better.”
On the other hand, the arrival of Curtis Jones also comes in as a massive advantage for the former Dortmund manager.
Despite the impressive numbers put up by Salah and Sadio Mane, Firmino has fared well in the Premier League and has held his own. The player started with a positive approach and bagged four goals and one assist in eight appearances. However, his three goals came in one game as he scored a hat-trick against Watford.
In recent seasons there has been a drop in Firmino’s performance. He only bagged nine goals and nine assists in 48 appearances across all competitions last season. The stats look pretty disappointing for his stature. The 30-year-old forward’s age could be a concern in the long run; however, for now, he remains a key player for the Reds.

Liverpool are entering a busy festive schedule, and there will be a lot of games in the span of a few days. In such a case, the German manager would be required to give Salah and Mane some rest to avoid a possibility of wearing out.
Firmino had a massive influence on Liverpool’s recent success. The Brazilian scored some of the most important goals for Klopp. Thus, his back on the scoring sheet would be a massive advantage for the Reds, who would be eyeing to capitalize on the peak years of the superstars to win some more silverware.
