Borussia Dortmund offer a double contract to Liverpool target Jude Bellingham and his brother
According to Football Insider (h/t Liverpoolecho), Borussia Dortmund have opened renewal talks with Liverpool target Jude Bellingham. It also includes a contract for his younger brother Jobe who is playing in England.
The Englishman is currently one of the most promising youngsters in Europe. The 18-year-old midfielder has developed into a critical player for BVB and has been vital to their recent success. This season, the former Birmingham City player netted three goals and provided nine assists in 24 matches across all competition for Marco Rose’s team.
Borussia Dortmund intended to bind him to a new contract amid heavy interest from big teams. The German team is also currently keen to offer a professional contract to Jude’s younger brother Jobe who is playing at Birmingham City in an attempt to convince the Bellingham family.
Liverpool have been linked with Bellingham in recent times. But a new Dortmund contract for the 18-year-old would most probably throw a spanner into Liverpool’s chances.
The Reds have suffered a mini midfield crisis this season. Three of Jurgen Klopp’s first-choice midfielders were out of action for an extended period due to injuries. James Milner, Jordan Henderson. Fabinho, Naby Keita and Thiago Alcântara have all been sidelined at different points this season.
Fabinho and Thiago, along with Virgil van Dijk and Curtis Jones, have been home isolated after contacting the Coronavirus. Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson also needed time off after suffering from an illness.
Reds current midfield depth is excellent. But if the injury issues with crucial players could become a severe concern in the long term. As most of the Reds midfielder’s are ageing, the possibility of injuries is unavoidable.

Therefore, Jurgen Klopp’s team need younger alternatives to fill the void and Bellingham, who has proved his maturity in Germany, could be an excellent inclusion. But Dortmund are in no mood to let the player go and we could have a fight on our hands to land him.
