Transfer News: Juventus are eyeing Liverpool star Divock Origi

According to the Italian newspaper Gazzetta Dello Sport (h/t Liverpool Echo), Juventus have shortlisted Liverpool star Divock Origi to cover for Alvaro Morata should he depart the club.

The Belgian is something of a cult hero at Anfield. He is known for netting goals in crucial games at the right moment. The 26-year-old hasn’t disappointed in this season either and helped secure key wins over Wolverhampton Wanderers among others.

Even though nobody can deny the massive role of Divock Origi in Liverpool success, he has been limited to a Super-sub role and never got the chance to showcase his full potential.

Jurgen Klopp has preferred to choose the star-studded lineup of Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino ahead of the Belgian international. Origi has only got the chance to play ten games across all competitions this term. The lack of game time could push the 26-year-old towards an exit in the coming window.

If Origi decides to leave, he would have no problems finding his next home. It is believed that Alvaro Morata, who is currently playing at Juventus on loan from Atletico Madrid, is closing to a move to Barcelona. Amid such a situation, the Old Lady have shortlisted Origi, with Manchester United star Edinson Cavani also an option.

Liverpool has been hugely successful in the forward department this season. The Salah-Mane duo has while Diego Jota has stepped up his game. In addition to that, Takumi Minamino has played essential roles in a few critical games.

The Reds currently have a plethora of great options to choose from. There is, however, a requirement of fresh blood in the team in the long run.

Origi has consistently performed miracles for the team and deserves more chances from Klopp. The possibility of success and failure would depend on how the 26-year-old perform if allowed to feature across a whole season. Given the players ahead of him in the pecking order, that is a tough task.
