Transfer News: Liverpool ‘favourites’ to sign barcelona star Ousmane Dembele
According to El Nacional (h/t Liverpool Echo), Liverpool are favourites to sign Ousmane Dembele from Barcelona during the January transfer window.
The Reds have been linked to the French forward over the past few weeks, and with the transfer window now open, speculation has further risen over Dembele’s situation at Barcelona.
Klopp is said to be interested in signing a forward during this month’s transfer window, and Dembele would be on top of the German’s wishlist.
A World Cup winner with France, Dembele has long attracted several of Europe’s top-flight clubs with his mazy dribbles and devastating pace. Though Liverpool have seemingly forever been linked with signing the Frenchman, it seems that now is the time that the Reds finally get their man.
Although plagued with injuries during his time in Spain, Dembele’s qualities have always made him a transfer target for top clubs. Klopp is said to be an admirer of Dembele and can use Dembele’s strengths to the fullest.
The German employs a game plan with swift counter-attacks, the 24-year-old’s rapid sprints and quick tricks fit in perfectly with the manager’s style of play.
With Liverpool losing star forwards Mohammed Salah and Sadio Mane as they take the field with their international sides at the Africa Cup of Nations this month, Klopp will be eager to sign a player with a goalscoring threat as cover for his main attacking duo.
When fit, Dembele is a nightmare for any defender and the Premier League could see the arrival of an extremely talented youngster, who is still yet to his full potential.
