Liverpool joined by Real Madrid in the race to sign 23-year-old Ligue 1 striker

Transfer News: Real Madrid join Liverpool in race for Nantes striker Randal Kolo Muani

According to Defensa Central (h/t Liverpool Echo), Real Madrid are interested in signing Liverpool target Randal Kolo Muani from Nantes.

It is said that the La Liga champions are plotting to sign Kolo Muani from Ligue 1 side Nantes, but only if they are able to sell forward Mariano Diaz first.

Liverpool are also in the mix to sign the young striker and have been linked to the Frenchman in recent weeks, along with European heavyweights AC Milan and German club Eintracht Frankfurt.

Real Madrid give Liverpool competition in signing Nantes striker Randal Kolo Muani.

Kolo Muani’s contract expires at the end of the season, so there have been plenty of clubs interested in snapping up the striker. The prospect of getting the exciting talent for free in the summer has seen the Ligue 1 side get a lot of attention from clubs across Europe.

The Frenchman has scored seven goals and has three assists in 19 Ligue 1 appearances so far this term, and has created a buzz amongst clubs seeking a goalscoring outlet.

It’s not unreasonable to think Nantes may hold on to the player right now if they don’t want to lose their goalscorer in the middle of this season. They would, however, be aware that January would be the only chance for them to get a transfer fee for the striker if he doesn’t renew his fast-expiring contract.

Kolo Muani has scored seven goals and provided three assists in 19 Ligue 1 appearances so far this term.

Young strikers are always hot property for Europe’s elite clubs, and the situation is no different for Kolo Muani. Linked to a host of top clubs across Europe, the forward has managed to get people talking about him with his displays in Ligue 1 this season.

Roberto Firmino’s inconsistent form in front of goal and the lack of a true number 9 at Liverpool can be felt at times. Diogo Jota is a versatile forward who can play down the middle at times, while Divock Origi is clearly not trusted by Jurgen Klopp to lead the line.

Although there are other clubs in the mix to sign the 23-year-old, Real Madrid seem to be at a disadvantage as they need to sell their own striker first to make way for Kolo Muani. It’s hard to say no to a massive club like Liverpool for most players, but then again, we would have to formalize our apparent interest into an offer.

In Kolo Muani, we may be looking at a budding striker who can take up the mantle at Anfield in years to come and be the goal scorer that would get the Kop singing about the Frenchman. It’s a name we may hear a lot in the summer, so it’ll be interesting to see what the Nantes man decides at the end of the season.
