Transfer News: Liverpool interested in 19-year-old record-breaking Spanish sensation

Liverpool are interested in signing 19-year-old Villareal winger Yeremy Pino

According to Fichajes (h/t Liverpool Echo), Liverpool are one of the many big clubs around the world interested in signing Spain and Villareal forward Yeremy Pino. The report goes on to claim that Manchester City are also interested in the player.

The teenager has been in the limelight recently for scoring four goals, including three in the first half against Espanyol in La Liga last weekend. In the process, Pino became the youngest ever player to score a first-half hattrick in La Liga.

Pino, in his short career, has already made huge waves in Spanish football. The Yellow Submarine man has already made his debut for the Spanish national team, having impressed manager Luis Enrique.

With 11 goal contributions in 33 matches across all competitions for Villareal, the teenager has been an integral cog of Unai Emery’s team this season. Pino predominantly plays as a right-winger for club and country, but can play on the opposite flank and also as an attacking midfielder if required.

Villareal rate Pino very highly, and having just tied him down to a new long-term contract until 2027, they are in no rush to sell him. However, if the winger continues performing in a similarly spectacular fashion, the big clubs will have no qualms in paying what is needed to land his services.

Why do Liverpool need him?

Roberto Firmino, Mohammed Salah and Sadio Mane have formed a deadly attacking trio for the Reds over the past few years, but with all three players in and around their 30s, we will need to replace them sooner rather than later.

The Reds have already found an able replacement for Firmino in Jota, with the Portuguese forward gaining prominence in the team over the past few months. At 25 years, if he continues in the same vein, Jota could be the man to lead our forward line for many years to come.

The signing of Luis Diaz in the winter, as a potential replacement for Sadio Mane makes a lot of sense. While the Senegalese star still plays at a very high level, the Colombian winger, also 25, can take over whenever required.

Similarly, we have been on the lookout for a right-winger, who can not just replace Salah in the future but also provide the side with an alternative today. Players like Jarrod Bowen

and Marco Asensio have been linked to the club, and Yeremy Pino is the latest addition to that list.

Whilst Yeremy Pino is comparatively younger than the other names on the list, he probably has the highest ceiling among all of them right now. If we do successfully manage to sign Pino, we could be getting our hands on one of the biggest talents in world football.
