Transfer News: Liverpool are reportedly interested in signing Sparta Prague forward Adam Hlozek
According to Jeunes Footeux (h/t Liverpool Echo), Sparta Prague striker Adam Hlozek is on Liverpool’s radar, with Jurgen Klopp said to be very impressed by the 19-year-old. The Reds are apparently exploring this option if Divock Origi leaves the club this summer.
Despite interest from the Merseysiders, Hlozek is said to prefer a move to the Bundesliga, with interest from both Borussia Dortmund and Bayern Munich. The Czech forward has been putting in a string of impressive performances for Sparta Prague since last season and it was just a matter of time before the big clubs in Europe started noticing.
Hlozek has played predominantly as a second striker in the Czech league, using his creative abilities to create chances for his teammates in addition to scoring goals. He is capable of playing as the sole number nine as well and could be a useful addition to this Liverpool side.
The teenage starlet set the Czech league alight last season with 15 goals in addition to creating 8 goals for his teammates. This season, he has been on fire as well, scoring 9 goals and providing 12 assists in 34 appearances across all competitions.
How does Hlozek fit into Liverpool’s system?
Roberto Firmino has been playing the false number 9 role exceptionally well at Liverpool for many years now but his output has been dwindling of late. In Adam Hlozek, the Reds may find an able understudy for the Brazilian.
A creative playmaking striker who can create chances for his teammates while also scoring from time to time, as proven by his aforementioned statistics, Hlozek makes for a smart addition. But only if there is an exit in the near future.
We have already seen Diogo Jota, Firmino, Origi, Takumi Minamino, Mohamed Salah, and Sadio Mane play as centre-forwards for us over the season. Amidst this, it’s hard to see where Hlozek will get playing time unless at least one of them leaves.
At 19, Hlozek is still very young, and there could be aspects of his game that need fine-tuning but the teenager has all the tools required to become a top player. Under a manager like Jurgen Klopp, the sky would be the limit for him.

However, it must not be forgotten that although the Czech striker’s numbers are very promising, the Premier League is a different league from the Fortuna Liga. It will be a whole new environment and intensity for the youngster to deal with- but that only becomes an issue once we know we are actually signing the youngster.
