Transfer News: Liverpool loanee Neco Williams is eyeing a permanent transfer to Fulham
According to Football Insider (h/t Liverpool Echo), Liverpool youngster Neco Williams wants to sign a permanent contract with Fulham.
Since moving to Fulham on deadline day in January, Neco Williams has already bagged two goals in nine appearances in the league, which showcases the productive talent of the Liverpool loanee.
The Wales youngster has been getting significant game time in the Championship every matchday and could be on his way to becoming a regular for the Cottagers in the near future. Neco has a contract with Liverpool until 2025 and is set to return to Anfield this summer.
However, now it is believed that the young full-back wants to make his move to Fulham permanent, who would be able to offer him better game time and less competition compared to Liverpool.
What next for Neco?
The Cottagers could have to pay £12 million if they attempt to make his move permanent. It is believed that their decision regarding the transfer would most likely depend on their promotion to the Premier League for next season.
Currently, Liverpool only have Trent Alexander-Arnold as their recognised right-back. The Englishman recently picked up an injury against Arsenal and it remains to be seen how Jurgen Klopp tackles the situation now.
But considering the long term success of the team, Liverpool would require a backup for the right-back role, which would eventually strengthen the void left by Neco. Buying a big-money star may not be the most clever idea as Alexander-Arnold is currently one of the best in the world in his position.

Amid such a situation, Liverpool could use Neco’s help next season after the youngster returns from Fulham gathering experience. We do have Joe Gomez to deputized there for now but the ex-Charlton Athletic man isn’t the most adept attacking full-back, which is something most Liverpool fans would agree with.
Neco’s position is also understandable and our fans can’t really fault him for that. It is clear he cannot overtake Trent here at Liverpool in search of regular game time and perhaps making an impression at Fulham is the way to go for his career at this moment.
