Jurgen Klopp clarifies Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane’s absence for Liverpool against Nottingham Forest

Speaking after the game against Nottingham Forest last night as quoted by Liverpool Echo, Jurgen Klopp has clarified that Mohamed Salah was forced to sit out of the clash due to an injury while Sadio Mane was not present due to a technical decision.

The Reds emerged victorious by a 10 margin against Forest thanks to a late Diogo Jota goal. This helped Klopp’s side to progress through to the FA Cup semi-final., where they will face Manchester City.

Klopp’s squad for the match last night did not have either the Egyptian or the Senegalese superstar and there was widespread speculation on why the duo missed out on the quarter-final clash. The Reds boss has now given his take on the issue.

Speaking on Salah’s absence, the German manager confirmed that the former Roma man was down with an injury. Thankfully it did not come to bite us as a resourceful Liverpool side came out on top.

Regarding the absence of Mane, Klopp clarified that it was a technical decision keeping in mind the important World Cup Qualifiers match for the Senegalese international. Mane’s nation will take on Salah’s Egypt in a crucial World Cup playoff.

“We would not use Sadio in the game either because the game is too big in Africa. I would not do things like this that could be misunderstood.”

The dynamic duo?

Both Salah and Mane have been in tremendous form for the Reds this season. All the success of the Reds could mainly be attributed to these two players.

The Egyptian superstar has 38 goal contributions in 36 matches this season while Mane has 16 goal contributions in the same time.

The duo has been Klopp’s go-to men this season and the German manager will know that it is very important both his key players are fit and firing as his side chases the unprecedented quadruple.
