Transfer News: Mohamed Salah has a 60% chance of joining Barcelona

According to Sport (h/t Liverpool Echo), Liverpool superstar Mohamed Salah has a 60% chance of joining Spanish giants Barcelona.

The 29-year-old winger has been sensational for the Reds since joining from AS Roma in 2017 showing levels of consistency that had elevated him to superstardom at Anfield.

The Egyptian is undoubtedly Liverpool’s talisman and is arguably the Reds’ most important player this season. A case can also be made for the forward for being the best player in the world this season.

Barcelona are preparing a bid for Liverpool star Mohamed Salah.

With his contract expiring in 2023, the Reds are keen on tying down their Egyptian star on a long-term deal. However, there seems to be a contract stand-off between the player and the club due to disagreements regarding the wages offered.

Having not penned a new deal with the Merseyside club it’s not surprising for top clubs around Europe to be linked with the sensational winger. Barcelona are the club who are most linked with the Liverpool star and Sport claim that there is a 60% chance for Barcelona to sign him this season.

Keep him at any cost?

Salah’s importance to Liverpool is immense. He is by far the most important player in a team of superstars and has been brilliant this season, already having 38 goal contributions in 36 matches across all competitions this campaign.

Liverpool superstar Mohamed Salah is yet to pen a new deal with the club

Jurgen Klopp will be hoping that a solution is found to the Salah saga as soon as possible, and more so a conclusion that is favourable for him and the Reds. The off-field issues don’t seem to affect the Egyptian’s performances whatsoever but he will also want clarity on his future soon.

The Egyptian expects to be paid like one of the best in the world which is without doubt but Liverpool are right in their stance to negotiate a lower deal. While the negotiations have not broken down yet, there could be a possibility that the Reds are faced with the harsh reality of their talisman leaving.

Salah is a Liverpool legend and rightly so. LFC fans adore Mohamed Salah. By holding out for a new contract and potentially leaving for free, he is in danger of tarnishing his legacy at Merseyside.

It remains to be seen how the Reds approach the Salah contract saga. Do they give in to keep their best player at the clubs at all costs or have a look at the past and consider how they have coped when they have sold their best player back then Philippe Coutinho back in 2018 and decide to stand firm on their stance is a question left to be answered.

Ideally, we are hoping both parties are able to achieve a middle ground that is comfortable for both parties.
