Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp assuages fears regarding Mohamed Salah contract negotiations
Speaking ahead of Liverpool’s Champions League quarter-final clash against Benfica as quoted by the Mirror, Reds boss Jurgen Klopp has revealed that there is ‘nothing new to say’ with regards to Egyptian superstar Mohamed Salah and his new contract.
The 29-year-old winger has been sensational for the Reds since joining from AS Roma in 2017 showing levels of consistency that had elevated him to superstardom at Anfield.
The Egyptian is undoubtedly Liverpool’s talisman and is arguably the Reds’ most important player this season. A case can also be made for the forward for being the best player in the world this season.
Having yet to pen a new deal with the Reds, there is a fear among Liverpool supporters that their talisman might run down his contract but Klopp has reassured them that there are no developments and no need to panic about the situation.
“There’s nothing new to say. The decisive parties are talking to each other and that is all I need. We see Mo every day in training and playing, there is nothing to worry about.”
A much needed boost?
Salah’s importance to Liverpool is immense. He is by far the most important player in a team of superstars and has been brilliant this season, already having 38 goal contributions in 36 matches across all competitions this campaign.
Jurgen Klopp will be hoping that a solution is found to the Salah saga as soon as possible, and more so a conclusion that is favourable for him and the Reds. The off-field issues don’t seem to affect the Egyptians’ performances whatsoever but he will also want clarity on his future soon.
Salah is a Liverpool legend and rightly so. LFC fans adore Mohamed Salah. By holding out for a new contract and potentially leaving for free, he is in danger of tarnishing his legacy at Merseyside.

It remains to be seen how the Reds approach the Salah contract saga. Do they give in to keep their best player at the clubs at all costs or have a look at the past and consider how they have coped when they have sold their best player back then Philippe Coutinho back in 2018 and decide to stand firm on their stance is a question left to be answered.
Ideally, we are hoping both parties are able to achieve a middle ground that is comfortable for both parties.
