Report: Liverpool releases final revenue figures after NFT launch
According to Liverpool Echo, the Reds’ entry into the NFT world delivered £1.125million in revenue, although 95 per cent of the ” LFC Heroes Club’ remained unsold
The Reds recently announced their intention to enter the NFT space after a boom in the digital artwork space over the past 18 months. They partnered with the London auction house to sell/auction the NFTs, with a percentage of the returns dedicated to the LFC Foundation.
There were two sets of collectables on sale by the club – a set of 24 unique ‘Legendary’ 1 of 1 NFTs, and a series of generative ‘Hero Edition’ NFTs that combine multiple player illustrations to produce a unique digital collectable for each fan.

Blind pack NFTs were also on sale for the fans for around £56 but a cap was fixed on the amount of blind pack NFTs that can be purchased.
The auction saw an auction of 24 items raise $744,750 (£567,760). The ones that made the most money were Mohamed Salah’s NFT at $88,200, Jurgen Klopp’s at $81,900 and Alexander-Arnold’s at $69,300.
A new expedition?
9721 pieces were sold over the three days but Liverpool would have been expecting a higher tally than that. While they have fallen significantly short of expectations, it remains to be seen if the club will restructure their approach in the future.
Regardless, this is the football club’s first advent into the NFT World and it comes as no surprise considering its boom over the past few years. All unsold NFTs are said to go unminted. This means that only the purchased NFTs would go into the blockchain.
Albeit a slow start into the NFT market, the Reds have been receiving some criticism from certain groups saying Liverpool’s new adventure may turn out to be detrimental for the club.
