Andy Robertson dismisses talks of a quadruple in the Liverpool dressing room
Speaking in an interview as quoted by Daily Mail, Liverpool left-back Andy Robertson has denied talks of a possible quadruple and has insisted on taking each game one at a time.
Having already secured the Carabao Cup by beating Chelsea and still going strong in the other three competitions, it comes as no surprise that talks of a quadruple are floating around. Whilst the Premier League title is not in their control as things stand, they are just one point behind Manchester City looking to pounce if the Cityzens slip.
The Reds are fairly comfortable in the Champions League and the FA Cup though. They have Benfica to face in the quarters of the CL but are expected to get through having already secured a 3-1 lead in the first leg. Klopp’s men face City in the FA Cup semi-finals, winning which they could face either Chelsea or Crystal Palace.
Speaking about the possibilities of a quadruple, Andy Robertson squashed that theory and reiterated that each game should be treated individually.
“Look, we literally just talk about the next game. As it comes. You can’t look too far ahead, you think of the next game and that’s Benfica then we move on from there. Definitely no chat like that (about a quadruple) in our changing room.”
There is a chance?
As much as Robertson would love to play down the expectations of a quadruple, it is a fact that the Reds remain in the reckoning. To accomplish this, Liverpool will have to do the unprecedented.
First of all they’ll have to continue their form in the Champions League and FA Cup, beating the Portuguese giants and the Cityzens to make the next round of the respective cup competitions.
The Premier League is no longer in their own hands. They will have to hope for Guardiola’s men to slip up if they are to clinch the English league title but with an easy fixture list awaiting the defending champions, it is safe to say LFC are the underdogs in the race.
As we approach the business end of the season, Liverpool have a defining schedule ahead of them. They might want to take it game by game like Robertson claims but at the back of their minds, the quadruple is still going to keep lingering.

If the Reds indeed manage to do the unthinkable and win the quadruple, it will be a story for the ages. And it is very hard to imagine that no player would have thought of this in the dressing room.
Even if they did, it wouldn’t be the best look for us to make all that talk public. Humility and humbleness are important aspects for a team to maintain, especially in front of the media. After all, rival fans would let us live it down if the club makes big claims about winning the quadruple and then failing to do so.
