Transfer News: Lautaro Martinez would be open to a move to Liverpool
According to TuttomercatoWeb (h/t Liverpool Echo), Inter Milan striker Lautaro Martinez would be open to moving to a club like Liverpool, who have a historical record of winning trophies.
The 24-year-old striker has been an instrumental part of the Nerazzurri in the last couple of seasons. He linked up well with former striker partner Romelu Lukaku helping guide the Italian club to their first Scudetto in 11 years last season.
The Argentine forward has provided some great returns scoring 19 goals and providing three assists in 42 matches across all competitions for the defending Serie A champions this campaign.
At 24, it seems as though Martinez has the best years of his career ahead of him. He can be a great long-term asset for the club if nurtured in the right manner. His ability on and off the ball could be another tempting proposition for Jurgen Klopp.
It is being reported that the Inter forward would prefer a move to Liverpool over clubs like Arsenal and Atletico Madrid as he wants to move to a club that wins a lot of titles.
Where does he fit in?
Liverpool have a well-stocked forward line, with Roberto Firmino, Divock Origi and Diogo Jota as striker options, with even Sadio Mane playing there recently. While the Portuguese can also play as a winger, his best performances in a Reds shirt have come while playing as a centre-forward.
Origi is a merely rotational option for Klopp, and his future at Anfield is far from certain. Firmino has been on the decline for quite some time now and his productivity is no longer what it used to be.
That leaves Jota as the only reliable option in the long-term sense. The 25-year-old Portuguese forward has settled in extremely well into the team and has even taken over the starting berth from Firmino.
The Inter Milan striker is still young and could go on to play at the elite level for several more years. Lautaro Martinez could perfectly fit this bill and the lure of working under a world-class manager such as Jurgen Klopp could be a greater boost for our prospects.

The Argentine professional footballer’s addition could also help boost competition for a place in the team. With that in mind, the pursuit of the Serie A ace will not be an easy task considering the current evaluation set by his club along with his recent form.
One thing that does not favour Liverpool is the player’s desire to stay at the club. Lautaro Martinez to Anfield still seems a long way off but it is something that could happen should the circumstances prove right.
