Transfer News: Liverpool keeping tabs on Aberdeen youngster Calvin Ramsay
According to The Liverpool Echo, Liverpool are keeping tabs on Aberdeen youngster Calvin Ramsay ahead of the 2022 summer transfer window.
The 18-year-old came through the ranks at the SPL giants, making his first-team debut in 2020. He has since made 37 appearances for the senior side, scoring once and making nine assists.
Ramsay has stood out in what has been a rather disappointing season for Aberdeen. This has seen him attract interest from several clubs including Liverpool. The Reds are snapping up some of the best young talents around and Ramsay appears to be the latest name on the radar.
The Reds already have one of the best full-back pairings in the world in Trent Alexander-Arnold and Andrew Robertson. Adding Kostas Tsimikas to the roster handed Jurgen Klopp an able deputy to the latter. Liverpool however lacks a reliable alternative to Trent at right-back.
A right-back, Ramsay is the latest name in a series of top-level Scottish full-backs who are making their name in the game today. He is competent at both ends of the pitch and could develop into a reliable player at Anfield.
While the Reds have shown interest in the youngster, they are yet to make a move to land him. Whether that will change in the weeks to come remains to be seen.
Trent is one of the finest young players in world football and an undisputed starter. While Neco Williams has done a job when needed, he is now out on loan, and his future at the club is in question.
Liverpool could be open to letting Williams leave, giving them a spot in the roster to be filled. Time will tell if Ramsay is that man or not.

At just 23, Alexander-Arnold is young enough to cement his spot in the Reds’ lineup for years to come. Bringing in an understudy who has to be content sitting on the bench for large stretches is not an easy task.
The Reds have also agreed to bring in Celtic’s young sensation Ben Doak. Whether Ramsay will follow him to Anfield remains to be seen but if he does, not a lot of Reds fans would have a problem with it.
