Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp reveals how he is going to approach the Merseyside Derby vs Everton
According to Independent.ie, Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has suggested that the coming Everton clash is their prime focus at this moment in time.
Liverpool are set to face Everton in the Premier League today. The Reds are trailing by 4 points from Manchester City, playing one less game. If they win the Merseyside derby today, they could bridge the gap to just one point.
Liverpool have a set of crucial matches coming their way as they are the only English team still fighting for the quadruple in this campaign. After the Everton clash, they will face Villarreal in the Champions League semi-final 1st leg on 28th April. Next month they have a crunch final against Chelsea in the FA Cup.
When asked about their chances of securing the quadruple, Red’s manager Jurgen Klopp revealed that his focus is fixed on the Everton match as he approaches every game with the same importance.
“We don’t ‘go’ for four trophies, but we think about four trophies. We don’t plan now for the Champions League final, for example. We think about Everton, and then we don’t have a lot of time to think about Villarreal. We don’t take the second step before the first.”
Even though he didn’t give a straight answer to the question, he suggested that last season’s record shows that the Reds players are capable of winning all the remaining matches.
“I didn’t need last season [when they won their last five games] as proof that the boys can do that. I trust this group more than I can say.”
Are Liverpool on the right path?
Even though Liverpool have the opportunity to complete a fantastic accolade this term, the process is long and demanding. Every game is like a stair; if they fail, they can’t go any further upwards.
If the Reds fail to secure major titles this term, their achievement of fighting for all four accolades might not be remembered in the same light. That’s probably the reason why Jurgen Kopp is trying to take away the spotlight from their chances of winning the quadruple.

The Merseyside Derby is known for its intensity and aggressiveness. The Toffees are fighting to stave off relegation and they will use everything in their power to upset the applecart at Anfield.
However, the Reds are not in a position to suffer another defeat if they want to keep their title dreams alive. That’s why winning the match against Everton remains much more important now than ever.
