“Lot of desire” – Liverpool ace makes Champions League admission

Liverpool shot-stopper Alisson Becker makes an interesting claim about the UEFA Champions League

Speaking to UEFA.com, Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson Becker shared his view regarding the UEFA Champions League. He highlighted how the European competition is the toughest and winning it can invoke a special feeling.

The Reds have been having a splendid campaign so far. We have already managed to lift the EFL Cup in February this year, and are one step away from getting our hands on the FA Cup. The Anfield outfit trail Manchester City by a solitary point in the Premier League at the moment.

Staying competitive across all these competitions is a commendable feat in itself and reaching the semi-finals of the Champions League despite competing on several fronts is applause-worthy.

Alisson highlighted what it means to win the CL, revisiting the memories of when he won the prestigious cup with Liverpool in the 2018-19 season. The Brazilian international also shed light on his desire to relive that moment.

“There was a lot of desire to lift the trophy, to lift the ‘Big Ears’, even before we won the Champions League. Winning the Champions League is something special in a player’s career. It is the best possible achievement for a club. It is the toughest competition to win, and we have managed to do it once. And when you win it, and you experience that moment, the thought that fills your mind is that you want to be part of that moment again, you want to experience it again.”

Champions of Europe once again?

The former AS Roma keeper rightly stated that the UCL is one of the toughest competitions. Some of Europe’s elite get to strut their stuff in this matchup and it can be a spectacle for fans all across the world.

In recent seasons, the Reds have managed to put up impressive displays in the Europe elite competition. They have threaded on a similar path as they take on Unai Emery’s men in an attempt to reach the final round of the Champions League.

Alisson Becker won the UCL with Liverpool in the 2018-19 season.

Jurgen Klopp’s men seem to be headed into the latter half of the season with the right mentality and cannot put a foot wrong at the moment. His side has notched up one victory after another and are on the cusp of a potential quadruple now.

It goes to show how far we have come as a club considering the squad inherited by Klopp was struggling for any semblance of consistency. The Brazilian shot-stopper played a pivotal role in guiding Liverpool to the Champions League trophy that season and we hope that he can achieve the same feat again this season.

A UCL medal is definitely a special thing for any player to have and only a few people can boast about having more than one. That being said, the Reds will have to come out with steely focus and determination if they want to get their hands on Europe’s most prestigious trophy once again.
