Transfer News: Liverpool looking to trump Manchester United to sign Monaco star Aurelien Tchouameni
According to Foot Mercato (h/t The Express), Liverpool will go up against Manchester United in the transfer battle for Monaco sensation Aurelien Tchouameni in the summer transfer window.
The youngster is already an established international with France and has a bright future in the game. Just 22, he has attracted attention from some of the continent’s top sides. With the 2022 transfer window nearing, there is every chance that he will move to England soon.
Man United have been linked with the midfielder for some time now. Their arch-rivals Liverpool have now made contact with the people’s entourage and are looking to trump the Red Devils to the signing.
Chelsea are also interested in the player, but Liverpool have a lot in their favour at this moment in time. The Reds are not just one of the world’s best teams right but are also a well-run organization that could be set to dominate for years to come.
LFC to get Tchouameni?
One key weakness Klopp’s squad has is their midfield. The likes of Thiago Alcantara, Jordan Henderson and James Milner are in their thirties while Naby Keita and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain’s time at Anfield has been beset by injuries.
Bringing in Tchouameni will help them rebuild an ageing side that could do with an impetus in the middle of the park. At 22, the Frenchman could develop into a vital cog for the Reds for the next decade.
The Reds have already qualified for next season’s UEFA Champions League, unlike Manchester United. The Red Devils have a long road back to the top and are today not among the best teams in English football.
Chelsea too have their issues and are facing transfer sanctions thanks to their owner, Roman Abramovich’s relationship with Vladimir Putin. This more or less weakens their hand going into the summer transfer window.
