Fulham owner Tony Khan confirm that Liverpool target Fabio Carvalho will leave the club
While speaking in an interview, as quoted by the Athletic, Fulham owner Tony Khan has confirmed that sensational young attacker Fabio Carvalho will leave Craven Cottage in the summer amid Liverpool links.
The youngster has developed into a crucial player for the Cottagers since getting promoted to the first team in 2021. Scoring 11 goals and assisting eight more in 37 appearances across all competitions, the 19-year-old has helped his team secure promotion to the Premier League.
Carvalho has long been a transfer target of Liverpool. According to Liverpool Echo, Jurgen Klopp’s team completed the signature of the talented youngster last month for a fee that could exceed the £7m mark.
Now the transfer has been confirmed by Fulham’s owner Tony Khan who revealed in a recent interview that Carvalho will leave the Championship club at the end of the ongoing campaign.
“I really like Fabio. He’s a player we have always rated, coming out of the academy, and we would have loved to have kept him. But we have made a deal that is best for the club, and, since that agreement, it’s worked out wonderfully because he has been such a valuable part of the promotion.”
How can Liverpool use Carvalho?
Carvalho mainly operates from attacking midfield, but he can also play from the left-wing and central midfield positions. Apart from having good passing and controlling skills, he can also score goals in crucial matches. Aged only 19, the kind of performance he has shown lately reflects the maturity and determination of the 19-year-old striker.
Liverpool’s crucial midfielders like James Milner, Jordan Henderson and Thiago Alcântara have gone past the 30-year mark. The squad’s average age remains pretty high, considering several important players are ageing. Amid such a situation, they probably need young kegs in the team who can take over the charge in the following years.
