Liverpool Injury News: Jurgen Klopp gives the latest on Fabinho Tavares after premature Aston Villa substitution

Fabinho Tavares seemingly suffered an injury against Aston Villa in the 2-1 away win for Liverpool yesterday, and was brought off around the half-hour mark for Jordan Henderson.

), Klopp said that the Brazilian’s reaction to the incident was positive but he is yet to be informed about the extent and the seriousness of the injury.

“He felt a muscle, not too much. He’s quite positive but I’m not sure what I can make of that, we will see.”

The German added that the ex-AS Monaco enforcer can be back in time for the FA Cup final, which comes as a huge boost for the quadruple-chasing Liverpool. The Reds take on Chelsea at Wembley on 14th May.

“I think he will [be fit for the FA Cup final] but I do not know, we have to have a further assessment.”

Those watching the game yesterday night would have noticed how Fabinho was sat on the bench a few moments after being taken off. Otherwise, it would have been a rather worrying sign had he gone down the tunnel for some immediate assessment work with the physio.

Fabinho has been a vital cog in our machinery ever since he saw out the first few months of his move to Merseyside from Monaco. Almost an irreplaceable man in the centre of the park for us, his absence is felt whenever he is not selected in the starting XI.

In his absence, Henderson is more than capable of playing there and did a good job against Villa yesterday in that position. Nevertheless, Fabinho is a specialised enforcer and we can use the ex-Sunderland star’s services on either side of the Brazilian.

If the injury isn’t serious, which it seems like from Klopp’s initial comments above, then it was a wise move to bring him off. Hopefully, he regains fitness and takes the field in a red shirt this coming Saturday. The Reds have a quadruple to win.
