Transfer News: Real Madrid will not bid for AS Monaco midfielder Liverpool target Aurelien Tchouameni
According to French journalist Fabrice Hawkins on Twitter (h/t Liverpool Echo), Real Madrid will not bid for Aurelien Tchouameni unless there is a major departure in midfield. That, according to the Journo, is unlikely as Carlo Ancelotti likes his midfield options and wants to keep hold of them.
This comes as a boost for Liverpool in their £59million pursuit of the AS Monaco star. Hawkins also claims that Tchouameni’s future is written in England if he does leave Stade Louis II, but PSG are also showing interest in him.
Madrid are one of the best teams in Europe and are in the UEFA Champions League final, where they will face us in Paris on 28th May. If they are not able to bid for the 22-year-old star, then that means LFC would be rid of one significant potential rival in this transfer race.
Liverpool can do with a midfielder of his capabilities. Those that watch the French midfielder play on a regular basis would know that he is good at shielding the centre-backs and can also kick-start attacks for his team from deep.
LFC face PSG, Madrid battle?
Earning several senior caps for Didier Deschamps’ Les Bleus isn’t an easy task at all but he has done in the past year or so. That kind of trust from a manager that has one of the best squads in the world at his disposal speaks a lot about Tchouameni.
The Reds would also be wise to get in young blood. Curtis Jones and Harvey Elliott are two newly converted central midfielders under Jurgen Klopp, with the English duo previously playing down the wings during their youth days.
Tchouameni is a natural central midfielder that shows maturity beyond his age in the heart of Monaco’s midfield. He can be the long-term successor of Jordan Henderson or Thiago Alcantara given they aren’t really spring chickens at their age.
The Spaniard, in all fairness, does look like he is in the form of his life but at 31, it remains to be seen how long he can keep this up. Moreover, it doesn’t really mean Madrid are completely out of the race for the Frenchman.

If they do see a big departure in midfield, they could pursue Tchouameni and make him the second French midfielder they sign in two summers after Edouardo Camavinga’s capture last summer. PSG are another team to keep an eye out for.
