Transfer News: Liverpool want Jude Bellingham next year after Aurelien Tchouameni makes Real Madrid admission
Fabrizio Romano told Caught Offside (h/t The Express) that Liverpool are among teams eyeing a transfer move for Borussia Dortmund star Jude Bellingham next summer.
This comes after the Italian transfer expert claimed that Aurelien Tchouameni has told his teammates that his priority is to join Real Madrid this summer. Going by that admission, Liverpool look set to lose out on the 22-year-old Ligue 1 midfielder.
But LFC fans can find solace in Romano’s claims that a move for Bellingham could be on the cards next year. He said:
“Liverpool are certainly interested for next summer – his talent and personality make him look like the perfect fit for a Jurgen Klopp team – but there is absolutely no definite deal because so many clubs want Jude and it will be an open race.”
Bellingham seems to be in a league of his own. Already considered an icon at his ex-club Birmingham City, he has become a regular for German giants Borussia Dortmund.
Bellingham to LFC?
With six goals and 14 assists in 44 games across all competitions this campaign, the 18-year-old Englishman is showing talent and maturity well beyond his age. Any team would be lucky to have him.
He is as important for his team on the ball as he is off it. It is natural for fans to be impatient and nervous when it comes to their clubs being linked with a talented footballer.
The rather puerile urge from Liverpool fans to see Bellingham wear their team’s colours as soon as possible gains a more rational edge when we consider the possibility of other teams coming in and poaching the England international from right under our noses
Romano himself claims it will be an ‘open race’ for the teenager. If that is the case, the Reds would do well to start laying the groundwork for a potential deal next year.

Dortmund are, after all, Jurgen Klopp’s former club. Whether that connection plays in our favour remains to be seen but it would be rather illogical to expect any favours from the Black and Yellow just because we both share the distinction of having Klopp as our managers.
