Liverpool star Andy Robertson outlines Champions League glory as his standout moment

While speaking in an interview, as quoted by Liverpool’s official site, Liverpool full-back Andy Robertson has named the Champions League success from 2019 as his fondest memory as a footballer.

Liverpool are set to battle with Real Madrid in the Champions League final today in Paris. The two teams have dominated European football in their own way and meet in the showpiece event in the French capital.

It would be the third Champions League final in 5 years for Liverpool. Under Jurgen Klopp, the Reds have achieved success both at home and abroad. Their first UCL final in the Klopp era was against Real Madrid which they lost by a disappointing 3-1 scoreline. Now the Merseyside team would be eyeing to settle the score in Paris.

Liverpool full-back Andy Robertson has been a part of the whole journey. When asked about his fondest memory as a Liverpool player, he replied that winning the Champions League in 2019 is the moment that he cherishes to this day.

“That night in Madrid will live with me for the rest of my life. Obviously, the season before we just fell short in Kyiv and to then get to another Champions League final, it doesn’t always happen. Some people only get to one and they’re blessed to be in one and all of a sudden, we were in two within the space of a year and we went and won it.”

The Scottish international showed gratification towards the achievement, suggesting that he didn’t even think about such a possibility when he was starting in the lower division of Scotland.  It is fair to say that the 28-year-old has proven everyone wrong.

“No, definitely not. Obviously, I had dreams at that time and I thought of how it could go and what was the best-case scenario, and obviously, it’s blown that out of the water I think.”

Would Andy Robertson replicate the success in today’s final?

Robertson has been one of the best full-backs in the world, considering the top-notch output he has given in recent seasons. By providing 15 assists and scoring three goals in 46 appearances across all competitions he has helped his club fight it out for an unprecedented quadruple.

The Scot has already helped the club to both domestic titles, which reflects his importance to the Reds. His engagement could make a big difference in the game as he is known to create good chances for the forward line.

However, Real Madrid seems to have taken a different approach throughout the season. Los Blancos have often turned the tables in the dying moments of the game, which reflects they know how to keep their cool during a crisis and hit back in crucial moments.
