Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp seeks to return for the UEFA Champions League final next season
According to Sky Sports, Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has opened up on the Reds’ UEFA Champions League final defeat to Real Madrid in Paris. To say that he remains optimistic would be an understatement.
Klopp’s men were the superior side on the night and had several opportunities to put the game out of sight. But profligacy in front of goal coupled with Thibaut Courtois’s heroics saw them fall short for the second time in three European finals.
The Liverpool boss believes this is not the end and that the club will return to more finals in the future. He in particular appears to be targeting next season’s showpiece event.
“I have a strong feeling we will come again. The boys are really competitive and are an outstanding group – they will be that again next season. And we go again. Where’s it next season? Istanbul? Book the hotel!”
While rivals can mock the club’s Paris heartbreak, Klopp’s comments cannot be dismissed. Liverpool have often hit back with a vengeance in the past and could do so once again.
The Reds will however need to rebuild and add some fresh blood to the roster. The likes of Naby Keita were abject while Mohamed Salah did his contract demands no favours. A strong summer could make the difference for the Reds going into the 2022/23 campaign.
Liverpool will now return home where a parade awaits them. Having won the FA Cup and the Carabao Cup, the Reds have enough reasons to celebrate. Klopp is keen to do that and put behind their disappointing end to the campaign.
“Tomorrow, we will celebrate the season.”
While we will still be reeling under the disappointment from last night, it should not overshadow what has otherwise been an excellent campaign. It was just not our night and was decided on fine margins.

Liverpool can mourn their loss but will need to put it behind them ahead of the upcoming season. If anything, they can use it to motivate themselves to set the wrongs right and secure more glory.
Next season’s Champions League final will be played in the Ataturk Stadium in Turkey. The Reds have fond memories of the venue having won their fifth title against AC Milan in the venue. They can add to it should Klopp’s prophecy come true.
